Education. The latest "ONLINE"

It is a birthright of every human to further his/her knowledge on any subject he/she desires to the optimum level.

The following contents were extracted from Article 26 of the Universal Declaration of Human rights

“Everyone has the right to education. Education shall be free, at least in the elementary and fundamental stages. Elementary education shall be compulsory. Technical and professional education shall be made generally available and higher education shall be equally accessible to all on the basis of merit”

“Education shall be directed to the full development of the human personality and to the strengthening of respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms. It shall promote understanding, tolerance and friendship among all nations, racial or religious groups, and shall further the activities of the United Nations for the maintenance of peace.”

“Parents have a prior right to choose the kind of education that shall be given to their children”.

( United Nations, 2015)

Thus the importance of education is amply demonstrated above and its application adds skills, values, beliefs, and moral habits of the community to achieve a civilized society.

The types of education with which we are familiar are Formal Education at colleges and institutions, Informal Education at homes and immediate society. However, with advancement of technology a need has arisen for ONLINE EDUCATION due to various factors.

What and Why Online Education?

Online education which is also known as distance learning is a process whereby students have the opportunity of learning from home or any place of choice by connecting through internet with a lecturer/facilitator at a time most convenient to both parties. This involves a huge saving of travelling time to and from institutions, costs incurred for travel and avoiding the strain of attending classroom sessions.  Moreover, regardless of the geographical locations students have access to educational programs quite at ease. There are several institutions or websites that offer online educational facilities at a fee or free of charge.

The basic requirements for this facility are possession of internet connection, a device either a smart phone, computer/laptop.

Online education is a sine qua non for the advancement of education now and in the future.
